Since 1986, Video Librarian has been a trusted resource for librarians, educators, and collection-development professionals. An Author POV gives you space on that platform to speak for yourself: the inspiration behind your book, the research behind it, and the reason it belongs in a library collection, in your own words rather than a reviewer's.

Every Author POV is a published question-and-answer feature of 800 to 1,200 words, illustrated with your cover and author photo, linked to wherever readers can buy your book, and archived permanently on our site where librarians can find it.

Here's how it works: the interview questions are part of the form below, so you answer them as you go. Add your cover image, author photo, and the link you want readers sent to, then submit payment at the end. The $125 feature and the optional $100 boosted social promotion are both selected at that point. We edit, design, and publish within approximately two weeks.

What is an Author POV?

An Author POV is a published question-and-answer feature in which you speak directly to librarians and educators about your book. You answer our interview questions on the form below, and your answers become the piece. It runs 800 to 1,200 words.

It is not a review. A review is one critic's verdict on your book. An Author POV is your own account of what the book is, who it serves, and where it fits in a collection, published on a professional trade site that librarians already use when they are deciding what to buy.

What does an Author POV cost?

Author POV feature - $125
Your interview, edited, designed, and published on Video Librarian, with your cover image, author photo, and a backlink to your website or purchase page. It stays in our searchable archive permanently.

Boosted social promotion - $100
An optional add-on. We run one week of paid social promotion behind your Author POV across Video Librarian's channels, putting it in front of librarians, educators, and readers who match our audience.

You can add the boost at checkout, or publish without it. Both options are on the form below.

Who reads Video Librarian?

Public librarians, school and academic librarians, and educators who spend institutional budgets on books and media. Our site reaches roughly 30,000 readers a month, and we have published more than 40,000 articles since 1986.

These readers are not browsing for their own entertainment. They are building collections, planning programming, and looking for titles that will serve their communities and curricula.

How long does it take to publish?

Because your answers and images come in with the form, we can start straight away. Most Author POVs are edited, designed, and published within approximately two weeks of submission and payment.

Occasionally editorial scheduling affects that timeline. If we need anything further from you, we will reach out.

Will you notify me when my Author POV is published?

We are not able to individually notify every author when a feature goes live.

We recommend checking the Video Librarian website approximately two weeks after you submit. If you purchased the boosted social promotion, we may contact you separately about scheduling.

What should I have ready before I start?

A high-resolution cover image, an author photo, and the link you want us to point readers to, whether that is your website, your publisher's page, or a retail listing. The interview questions themselves are on the form, so it helps to read through them before you begin rather than answering cold.

If your book has educational resources, curriculum connections, discussion guides, accessibility features, or anything else that would be useful to a librarian or teacher, work it into your answers. Those details often matter more to our readers than they do to a general audience.

Do you edit my answers?

We edit for clarity, length, grammar, and house style, the same way we would edit any feature on the site. Your voice, your argument, and your point of view stay yours.

If an edit changes your meaning rather than your phrasing, we will flag it with you before publication.

Do you accept self-published books?

Yes. We work with independent and traditionally published authors across fiction, nonfiction, children's and YA titles, memoir, and any book with library appeal.

How a book was published matters far less to us than whether it is useful to a library collection, a classroom, or a community program.

Can I include a giveaway or a library discount offer?

Yes, and librarians respond well to both. A review copy giveaway, a bulk or institutional discount, a book club kit, or an author visit offer can all be mentioned within your Author POV.

Include the details and any deadline in your answers on the form so we can publish them accurately.

What does the boosted social promotion include?

One week of paid promotion behind your published Author POV across Video Librarian's social channels, targeted at librarians, educators, and readers who match our audience.

It runs after your feature is live, and it drives traffic to the published piece rather than to a separate ad.

Can I buy more than one Author POV?

Yes. Authors with a series, a backlist, or more than one title are welcome to book multiple Author POVs.

Each book receives its own feature rather than being combined into a single piece, so each one is separately searchable and separately linked.

What if I change my mind after publication?

If you decide you do not want your Author POV to remain on the site, we can unpublish it at your request.

We cannot offer a refund. Payment covers editorial work already completed, including editing, design, processing, publishing, and any promotion that has already run, regardless of whether the finished feature stays online.
