Weston Woods Studios is pleased to announce the Spring 2022 video adaptation release of Watercress by Andrea Wang, illustrated by Jason Chin, winner of the Caldecott Medal, Newbery Honor Medal, and the APALA Winner for Literature/Picture Book.
While foraging watercress growing wild by the side of the road in rural Ohio, a young girl gains a new understanding when her mother shares a story of her family's time in China. Together, mother and daughter make a new memory of watercress.
This lyrical story celebrates family, food, and heritage and all the ways they unite us, across countries and generations. Jason Chin’s stunning water color illustrations are brought to life with movement and animation, along with a stirring narration by Sunny Lu. Ernest Troost’s original musical score combines western classical influences with traditional Chinese instrumentation, adding a deeply emotional and richly textured audio experience to the production. The video was produced by Melissa Ellard and Paul R. Gagne.
Watercress will be available exclusively through Weston Woods Studios in DVD, CD and streaming digital formats. For more information about this and other titles, please go to our website WestonWoods@Scholastic.com email westonwoodsquestions@scholastic.com.
