Engaging Youth: Media Making as Media Literacy
PBS NewsHour’s Student Reporting Labs directly engages young people in media-making and storytelling through journalism curriculum and mentorship. The ALA Film and Media Round Table is proud to host Elis Estrada(senior director for the Student Reporting Labs), and Will Tolliver Jr. (Early Learning Expert and Social Justice Advocate), as they discuss youth-centered education that promotes media literacy through media creation.
This educational webinar is geared towards all librarians interested in developing media-making programming in their libraries. Participants will learn about facilitating hands-on media literacy programming as well as tools and educational resources to aid curriculum development.
