The hit Israeli comedy drama explores the lives and challenges of three fictional mid-20-year-old roommates on the autistic spectrum as they navigate the world around them. Moderating the talk is David Siegel of Exceptional Minds, the Los Angeles-based nonprofit providing education and training for creative talents with autism, and dedicated to empowering people on the spectrum to achieve their professional potential. The series puts a human face — tender, funny, poignant and honest — on those dealing with the challenges of autism. The conversation includes a discussion of the need to transform the way those on the spectrum are portrayed in the media, and, more broadly, the need for greater inclusivity in society. On the Spectrum’s co-creator and writer Dana Idisis says, “I wrote the series from a very personal place — my younger brother is on the autism spectrum. I wanted to write a story in which he was the hero, where he deals with society and not where society needs to deal with him.” Join us for this meaningful conversation timed with National Autism Awareness Month.
