Alphabet Fiesta

An iconographic animated adaptation of Anne Miranda's 2001 children's picture book of the same name (featuring charming illustrations drawn by schoolchildren in Spain), Alphabet Fiesta tells the story of various animals attending a surprise birthday party for Zelda the zebra. Each animal brings something that alliterates with his or her name, offering many examples for each letter of the alphabet in this bilingual tale that is initially told in English only (with the usual Anglicized pronunciations of “llama” and “leopard,” etc.), then Spanish only, and finally with the two languages combined. Aside from the obvious fit for ESL/ESOL classrooms, this would also be suitable for preschoolers, homeschoolers, and public library programs. Recommended. Aud: K, E, P. (R. Reagan)
