Here's another baby vid featuring moving toys, hand puppets, and classical music that is almost identical in execution to Baby Superstar: Farmer (VL Online-8/03), Calm Baby (VL-7/03), Country Baby! (VL-7/03), International Baby 101 (VL-5/03), Brainy Baby (VL-1/03), Smart Baby (VL-11/02), Learning & Fun in the Tub (VL-9/02), Baby Newton (VL-7/02), So Smart! (VL- 5/02), and Go Go Globee (VL-11/01). Baby Prodigy features dolls riding on a carousel, a mechanical walking caterpillar, climbing toys (including the same climb-up-slide-down toy featured ad nauseam in International Baby), a blonde ballerina doll dancing (and dancing and dancing), a monkey toy that blows bubbles, and a mechanical “senorita” that “plays” an xylophone, among other sights, all of which are supposed to enhance a baby's brain development. “WHY IS THIS DVD BETTER THAN OTHER BABY/TODDLER PRODUCTS?” the back copy shouts. Because their classical music cues were “specially orchestrated” by “an EMMY AWARD-winning composer.” Actually, the only real difference here is that Baby Prodigy has a much larger advertising budget for parenting magazines, which may lead to requests.
