“Creative” is not a word this reviewer would normally associate with a sports drill video, but that's exactly what Backyard Baseball Drills is--creative and loads of fun for parents and kids. Once again the amazing Marty Schupak and the Youth Sports Club (The 59-Minute Baseball Practice [VL-7/99], 48 Championship Basketball Drills [VL-5/01]) team up to present sports fundamentals for kids aged 4-14 delivered with a maximum emphasis on fun and variety. Demonstrating over 30 drills that can be practiced at low cost in one's own backyard--using some rather unique props, including a bathroom plunger, plastic milk container, cinder block, plastic bats, tarps, and trees--Coach Schupak keeps reminding the viewer that, at heart, baseball is a game for kids and, as such, should always be fun (and safe). Given the fact that some twelve million kids play youth baseball in the U.S., this excellent title should get plenty of use. Highly recommended. Editor's Choice. Aud: E, J, P. (S. Fisher)
