Based on the super-trendy fashion doll line, this ‘tween-targeted animated program follows a quartet of tubular teens--Cloe, Jade, Sasha, and Yasmin--on a fashionably fluffy escapade. The gang is, like, totally excited about driving Cloe's (“you can call me ‘angel' ‘cause that's what I am”) new ride to the upcoming prom, until a homework project (worth one-quarter of the final grade) puts a crimp in their preparations. Battling the “crisis du jour” by working on the project (so tough: they are allowed to work in groups and make a video for an assignment on self-expression) whilst shopping and chilling on the beach, the girls take turns revealing their inner selves on camera (they want more mirrors in the girl's room--duh!) and battling embarrassing mentions in the “Daily Doings” gossip section of the school paper (Cloe's boy-toy Cameron is mortified when pictures surface from his makeover at the girls' sleepover). So, who's the blabbermouth? Can they ever finish the project and get A+s? Will the prom be a success? Gee, I dunno, George. Offering a steady parade of hair clips, style, makeup, a pop-rock-hip-hop soundtrack, and über-chic lingo, the DVD version also includes bloopers, karaoke songs, games, and music videos. Because of the mind-boggling popularity of the dolls, consider this a strong optional purchase. Aud: P. (J. Williams-Wood)
