Catdog
I think the theme song sums it up best:
One fine day with a woof and a purr
A baby was born and it caused a little stir
No blue buzzard, no three-eyed frog
Just a feline/canine little CatDog.
In the quirky town of Nearburg, where anthropomorphic animals roam free, CatDog, the inseparable conjoined brothers, navigate life's absurdities with double the trouble and twice the fun! Cat, the sophisticated feline with a love of order, often finds himself at odds with his impulsive canine counterpart, Dog, whose love for chasing garbage trucks rivals his love for fast-food feasts at Taco Depot.
Despite their differences, the dynamic duo faces the challenges of their shared existence with humor and heart. Cat's ambitious schemes often go hilariously awry, much to Dog's oblivious delight. Together, they endure attacks from the hateful Greaser gang and disrespect from Winslow, the mischievous mouse dwelling in their walls. As Cat dreams of fame and fortune, Dog happily chases his tail in pursuit of his next adventure. Whether they're embarking on misadventures in Nearburg or simply trying to untangle their intertwined lives, CatDog proves that with a little laughter and a lot of love, anything is possible -- even for two heads sharing one body.
CatDog is perhaps the most bizarre piece of media utilizing the ‘odd couple’ trope. While its surreal visuals and off-kilter humor are its biggest strengths, these often land flat because of the attempt to target a younger audience. It’s believed by many fans that CatDog was meant to be a spiritual successor to Rocco’s Modern Life, but in this writer’s opinion, it never quite reaches this level. While CatDog contains a similar style of zany animation and visual humor, the situations and the premise are too far removed from reality to match the real-yet-surreal situations that Rocco’s Modern Life fans still adore. Still, CatDog will be a hit with younger pre-teens with its easy-to-follow plots, accessible humor, moral stories, and energetic animation. Recommended.
