At least in the world of pop entertainment, nothing fires a child's imagination like a robot hero as malleable as a pile of Tinker Toys or Lego bricks. Cubix, a character derived from a video game, is such a hero, a powerful robot who can quickly disassemble and reassemble its parts into whatever apparatus is needed to help human pal Connor and friends. In this direct-to-video effort, the malevolent doctor Dr. K scours Connor's new home, Bubble Town, for robots containing an energy source that will yield unlimited power to his own army of evil machines. It's up to Connor, his new pals, and skeptical dad to stop the nefarious plot. Bright computer animation, a smart and involving storyline, and unique characters make this a fine family movie. DVD extras include a music video and game tips. Recommended. Aud: P. (T. Keogh)
