Sesame Street's famed red and furry young Muppet Elmo offers little ones embarking on potty training some welcome encouragement in this addition to the educational franchise's “My First Moments” line. Elmo knows that when he “gets that feeling,” it's time to use the restroom, and he sings the praises of practicing until you get the hang of it, while also underscoring the pride that comes from doing the job all by yourself. Elmo is joined by Baby Bear and his little sister Curly (whose different terminology for bodily functions leads into a segment in which live-action kids offer their expressions, i.e. “wee-wee,” “number two,” etc.). Also on hand are neighbor Gordon (who explains that everyone is different and has to listen to his or her own body) and others, who explore important topics such as “accidents” (they're ok!), underpants and training pants, and the time-honored three-step ritual of wiping yourself clean, flushing, and thoroughly washing your hands. The puppetry, live-action, and animated segments meld together seamlessly in this inspirational kids' “how-to” that features useful information for little ones and parents alike. DVD extras include an interactive storybook, a downloadable “potty certificate,” and a guide for parents. Highly recommended. [Note: also newly available is Elmo's World: Pets!] Aud: P. (J. Williams-Wood)
