Based on two of perennial ALA conference attendee Rosemary Wells' stories, Felix Feels Better (2001) and Felix and the Worrier (2003)--presented here in iconographic adaptations narrated by Debra Leigh--this program finds the titular guinea pig in two anxiety-producing situations. In the first, after a wild night of too many chocolate treats, Felix awakens in somewhat less than tip-top shape. When chamomile tea, sugared prunes, and fresh air prove ineffective, Felix is taken to see Dr. Duck, a visit that sparks nervousness over whether his mother will have to leave the room (she doesn't, and after a couple of spoonfuls of "Happy Tummy," Felix is sent on his merry way). In the second tale, Felix is plagued by bedtime visits from the "worrier," a little devil who frets about a black spot on one of Felix's teeth, or whether Bruno and the big boys are going to pull Felix's pants off and throw them in the trees, or if any of Felix's friends will come to his birthday party (and bring books that are too hard to read or clothes that don't fit)--all childhood fears that generally turn out to be unfounded. Charming stories, winsomely told, this two-tale program is recommended. Aud: K, P. (R. Pitman)
