Following commercials for his other videos (always an irritating feature, especially in a children's title), “Firefighter George” introduces youngsters to “Pilot Sean” Tucker, a professional stunt pilot, while cameras inside the cockpit offer kids a pretty good idea of what it's like to spin like a top in the air (with additional footage shot from another plane and the ground). The program also features “Lt. Ray” Thaler, USAF, who flies his F-15 fighter jet, the Navy's Blue Angels performing their hair-raising close-formation flying, “Pilot Bambi” Green showing a group of kids a commercial jet in a maintenance hangar, and “Flight Attendant Tonja” Releford sharing several safety tips aboard a grounded training plane. Finally, helicopters—-and the Army—are also spotlighted, as retired “Major Lisa” Bailey demonstrates how a Huey chopper takes off and lands. Safety is discussed throughout every phase, while interviews with the ground crews emphasize the number of people caring for each of the units. A good introduction to a wide variety of flying machines that also serves as a solid primer on airline safety, this is recommended. Aud: K, E, P. (R. Reagan)
