To the uninformed, a firetruck may be just a big red thing with a ladder and siren. For the kids watching this entertaining look into the world of firefighting, they'll know that not all firetrucks are created equal: the pumper truck may spray a lot of water, but those aerial trucks can get you pretty high off the ground! These and other bits of knowledge are presented by a veteran firefighter host, the affable Bryan "The Rat" Ratushniak, who works at the busiest fire station in Canada. His narration is clear and occasionally amusing, and the accompanying video footage benefits from snappy editing. Kids will enjoy the rescues as well as the "everyday" bits, like breakfast or chores at the station, as well as a road-trip montage. It's a little disappointing, however, that while a wide range of firetrucks are shown, a similar variety of firefighters are not. However, at this price, the video is recommended as good educational entertainment-although a better choice here would be Fire Busters (VL-7/96) Aud: K, E, P. (E. Gieschen)
