Fred Garbo Inflatable Theater Company on Broadway

An uneven charmer for children, this live performance presented by the "Fred Garbo Inflatable Theater Company" in New York city's New Victory Theater features a mixture of juggling, mugging, dancing, acrobatics and "inflatable" costumes. Performers Fred Garbo and Daielma Santos' artistic and athletic skills are evidenced by Fred's silly and calculatedly "awkward" moves (of the kind that kids adore) and Brazilian ballerina Daielma's grace and beauty. Unfortunately, the video is somewhat undermined by its inconsistent production values. At the beginning of the tape, the sound is uneven and, at times, hard to hear; in other segments, poor camera placement makes it difficult to see what's taking place on stage. Aimed primarily at elementary through pre-teen ages, this imaginative and wholesome program, though flawed, is still a fun, optional purchase. Aud: P. (S. Fisher)
