“Babies and Toddlers will discover new faces and places as they travel along with GO GO GLOBEE,” the copy on the video box promises of this low-cost supposed world tour that offers a pastiche of images accompanied by synthesized national songs playing while miniature flags wave in a fan-induced breeze. No voice-over ties together any of the visuals, which are a combination of stock footage, still photographs, maps, toys, and very amateurish puppets. The United States is represented by someone working a jigsaw puzzle map of the states, a photo of Manhattan, stock footage of a rocket blast-off, and pick-up sticks falling. Canadians fare worse, only rating one photo of some Royal Canadian Mounted Police and a paper doll Inuit child on a stick being waved back and forth during “Oh, Canada.” My 9-month old baby, who rarely gets to watch TV and therefore counts the news as a big treat, got so bored watching this he crawled out to the kitchen to break some bowls instead. After sitting through 34 long minutes, I was more than ready to join him. Not recommended. Aud: K, P. (R. Reagan)
