Originally released as Dr. Seuss on the Loose, this 1973 compilation features three silly-sounding lesson-filled stories from prolific children's author Theodor S. Geisel (aka Dr. Seuss). Two of the tales are taken from the 1961 collection The Sneetches and Other Stories. Some of the Sneetches are snotty about the “special” stars on their bellies, while others are mopey about their plain tummies. After a stranger comes to town with a mechanical process for adding stars—at a cost, of course—the creatures line up for stomach decals…much to the dismay of those who already have “stars upon thars.” The second story, “The Zax,” looks at the stubbornness of two creatures traveling from opposite directions who are bypassed by the world's progress when neither will budge to accommodate the other. Finally, the best-known tale, the 1960 classic “Green Eggs and Ham,” features pushy pal Sam-I-Am, who follows the protagonist while coaxing and pleading—in rhyme—with the latter to taste the strange titular dish. Presented in a Blu-ray/DVD Combo set, bonus features include four interactive puzzles. Recommended. Aud: K, P. (J. Williams-Wood)
