A more apt question might be: how do they produce a professional film which takes viewers to a foundry, a paper mill, a recycling plant and a glass making factory, and sell it for $7.98? Even if this wasn't a very good program (which it is), I personally believe that any decent tape priced less than your average California Cobb salad is probably worth it, no matter what it's about. This competent little film shows kids putting on a magic hat and becoming fantasy participants in various jobs, magically transported to various sites for a 5-10 minute demonstration of how things work. The dialogue is scripted, yet casual, the information, well presented, the style unobjectionable, and girls are shown doing jobs often associated with male stereotypes. Coupled with the right price, what's not to like? Another title in the series, Works: Fun and Games, takes viewers to crayon, kite, puppet and toy factories. Recommended. Aud: K, E, P. (R. Ray)
