Narrated by Bahni Turpin and backed by a simple guitar soundtrack, this iconographic-animated adaptation of author Boni Ashburn and illustrator Julia Denos's 2011 picture book follows a city-dwelling little girl who dons the titular outfit every Tuesday, until her mother decides that the dress has become too short. While the youngster is distraught, Mom soon gets to work, and—“snip snip, sew sew”—she creates a shirt out of the old material. The protagonist loves wearing her new top on Wednesdays…but when the sleeves get too tight, the fashionista matriarch morphs the shirt into a tank top, and as the girl grows, must further adapt the fabric into a skirt, scarf, socks, and finally, hair bow. Also featuring a read-along option, this colorful lesson on how “not to have a cow when things go wrong” is recommended. Aud: K, P. (J. Williams-Wood)
