Designed for children ages 3-to-6, the Jibberboosh series is built around the titular furry blue friend who springs from a magic box in a homemade fort (with the command "Jibber! Jibber! Jibber! Boosh! Boosh! Boosh!") to guide a group of youngsters in learning-filled play. The imagination-powered activities begin with a “brain game” where viewers must figure out what's absent from certain scenes (such as a bat, a book, and a ball) and deduce the connecting similarity between them (in this case, the letter “B”). Other segments feature a red “globetrotter” ball that displays clips of famous cities, a pants-themed version of “The Ants Go Marching,” a brief lesson on primary and secondary colors, and a song about animals. In addition to Jibberboosh, other characters with their own specialties emerge from the magic box, including counting Rhymin' Simon, corny joke-telling Nikki Knock Knock, singing Six String Sally, and workout instructors Jumping Jack and Jackie. With final recaps to aid in retention of newly-acquired knowledge, this wide-ranging program for preschoolers and early primary audiences is definitely recommended. [Note: also newly available at the same price is Jibberboosh: Shapes & Surprises.] Aud: K, E, P. (J. Williams)
