Creators (and parents of triplets) Ed Warnick and Meredith Mulholland want to get the world in shape “one kid at a time” with this half-hour program featuring the energetic preteen Kideosyncrasy crew. Discussing favorite activities and hobbies, followed by a warm-up (with optional floor mat), the team gets jiggy on segments including “The Name Game” (using folding chairs), “The Twist” (with the classic tune), “The Swing Jitterbug” (looks a bit tough), the “Kideosyncrasy Hip-Pop” (contemporary moves), and “Line Dance.” Accompanied by “karaoke style” onscreen text dance instruction and informational pop-ups (about exercise benefits and tips, smart snacks, and music trivia), each segment features the gang performing in various coordinating costumes (the Western variation of the Line Dance features a boy in a faux coonskin cap!), before breaking down the routine from a rear-view perspective, and finishing up with a cool-down. The program's primary focus is on dance (not exercise) and the moves would unquestionably take time to master; however, the funky soundtrack and corny kid-friendly banter (“I wear shorts a lot--24/7") are likely to keep young viewers replaying this, ensuring that youngsters would get a definite workout. DVD extras include outtakes, and a behind-the-scenes montage. Recommended. Aud: P. (J. Williams-Wood)
