For those too old for The Powerpuff Girls but too young for Buffy or Sydney from Alias, this Emmy-nominated Disney Channel series offers a formidable heroine for the 'tween set. Bursting with personality, Kim Possible is a multitasking high schooler who divides her time between school, cheerleading, and foiling a rogue's gallery of villains bent on world conquest. She is aided by her best friend, the hapless Ron Stoppable, and his pet naked mole rat (voiced by Nancy Cartwright of Bart Simpson fame). The irresistible, chart-topping theme song, "Say the Word," sets the stage for this collection of four spankin' episodes. Here's the sitch: In "Attack of the Killer Bebes," blundering villain Dr. Drakken plots his revenge on the scientists (including Kim's dad) who ridiculed his robot-building abilities in college; "Downhill" finds Kim in "humiliation nation" when her parents chaperone a school ski trip; and in the home video exclusive "Partners," Kim and her initially dismissive science fair partner must foil Drakken's latest scheme to unleash a super-genetic army. For those new to this series, the inaugural episode, "Crush," is included as a welcome DVD bonus. With writing as bright as its animated star, Kim Possible is way big. Recommended. Aud: P. (K. Lee Benson)
