A compilation of computer-animated shorts for kids, Little Bytes serves up 22 colorful byte-sized offerings notable more for their technical wizardry and imagination than their one-note storylines. Highlights include a pair of skits featuring Luxo Jr. (the famous little lamp from Pixar Studios); a vibrant, catchy version of "The Crooked Man"; the toe-tapping "Hammer Time" (a tool take-off on M. C. Hammer); and "Herds," a clever parable about getting along with others. While several other bits are either thematically old (a frog eating an innocent insect gives us yet another weak variation on the classic "Bambi Meets Godzilla"), or dated (such as "Quazar Rap," featuring Captain Quazar), the good stuff has a slight edge over the mundane, making this a strong optional purchase for most children's collections. Note: the DVD includes an extra film, "Why Does the Wind Blow." Aud: P. (R. Pitman)
