Featuring eight stories from the animated Nickelodeon-aired series, this compilation is based on the Caldecott Honor-winning picture books by author and illustrator Ian Falconer. In “Olivia Claus,” the nearly-seven-year-old sprightly swine protagonist is bummed after her cherished monkey doll Matilda turns up missing. While she tries to enjoy herself by festively dressing up her pets and creating treats for Santa together with her younger brother Ian (the duo go above and beyond the normal cookies and milk offerings to provide cheese, crackers, and green olives—with zucchini for the reindeer), Olivia can't get over the fact that she'd rather have her old toy back than anything new. “Olivia's Snow Day” finds the young pig pretending to be a reporter covering the weather and stumbling upon the tracks of an Abominable Snowman (who's not what he seems). Also including “Olivia and the Family Photo” “Olivia Makes Magic,” “Olivia's Good Luck,” and a DVD bonus episode, this is recommended. Aud: P. (J. Williams-Wood)
