"On the day you were born, the moon offered to bring a full bright face to your window..." narrates author Debra Frasier in this beautiful, Carnegie Medal award-winning multimedia version of Frasier's 1991 picture book On the Day You Were Born. Animated, cut-out 3D-like visuals and a rich, fully orchestrated score by the Minnesota Orchestra, are winningly combined in this inspiring program which reminds viewers of the many wonders which awaited them on the day they were born: the animals played all over the world, the sun shone down on our spinning orb, the stars lit up the night sky--and all seemed to say "so glad you have come." A "making of" segment offers insights from the author (who got the idea for the book during a difficult pregnancy as she wrote down the things that would welcome and help get her child here), composer Steve Heitzig (whose score is by turns whimsical and unabashedly celebratory) and conductor/host Bill Eddins who explains to viewers how this wondrous collaboration all came together. Highly recommended. Aud: K, E, P. (R. Pitman)
