Aimed at children ages 5-9, Our Wonderful World, presented in Hebrew with English subtitles, teaches basic concepts of Judaism and imparts Jewish values through live action, stories, humor, and song. A handful of children join popular Israeli children's television host Dalik, and his puppet friend Stam, for a musical journey through the “Six Days of Creation” as described in the book of Genesis. Each chapter corresponds to a particular day and includes a brief introduction; a live-action sequence featuring the children, Dalik, and Stam; plus one or two musical arrangements of passages from the Bible, the Talmud, and the Sages, as selected by the Lubavitcher Rebbe as important for children to learn. Chapter two, for example, corresponds to the second day of creation, when God created light, water, and the heavens, and begins with the voiceover of a child discussing his feelings about the sky, clouds, and rain, as various images of these natural phenomena appear onscreen, followed by a sequence in which the children, Dalik, and Stam explore nature together, interwoven with a couple of upbeat songs. DVD extras include a parent/teacher guide, as well as menu access to all 12 songs featured in the program. Recommended. Aud: K, E, P. (A. Cantú)
