Hosts Holly the toy-shop owner and Mort the hand puppet introduce young viewers to the concept of responsibility: defining what it means to be responsible, assessing the consequences of irresponsible behavior, and teaching how to make responsible choices. Using short realistic scenarios, this interactive program allows children to observe their peers in situations requiring a responsible decision, after which students are encouraged to discuss the situation presented and complete accompanying worksheets. Engaging for younger viewers, Responsible Me presents concepts simply and concisely, dovetailing nicely with the enclosed manual, which contains tips for integrating the material across the curriculum and features outstanding bibliographies for adults and children. My only quibble is that although the program is marketed towards K-2, some of the worksheets may be too difficult for kindergarten and first graders to complete without quite a bit of assistance. Otherwise, this is a terrific title that addresses a topic rarely presented in a positive light with children. Highly recommended. Aud: K, E, P. (L. Stevens)
