Parents' Choice Award-winning children's performer Roger Day serves up a jaunty 13-song set for this family concert filmed at Samford University's Ben Harrison Theater in Birmingham, AL. Sporting a shaved head, red T-shirt, slacks, and an acoustic guitar, the funny, earnest Day bounces around the sparsely decorated stage as he performs kid-friendly tunes such as “Mosquito Burrito,” “It's a No-No to Kiss a Rhino!” (“This song might save your life!”), “I Got Hands,” “If You Jump on Your Bed,” “Can You Point Your Finger?”, “Helicopter Harry,” “Monster Face,” “My First Loose Tooth” (perfect for the audience of gap-toothed youths), “Parachute Girl,” and the infectious “Open Up the Coconut,” as well as involving the young spectators by pitting them against the escort adults to see who's the loudest, asking them to make their best “terrible taste face,” etc. Featuring harmony vocals by the Grammy-winning Indigo Girls on “Ready to Fly,” this engaging production (that vows to “make curly cheese fries of all potential couch potatoes”) is highly recommended.
