Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, Piglet, Owl, Rabbit and Mr. Narrator return for another set of "chapters" from The Book of Pooh in this compilation of four segments from Disney's hit puppet/computer-animated TV series aimed at preschoolers. Based on A.A. Milne's endearing tales of life in the Hundred Acre Woods, the program's lead-off piece (the only one that is actually Valentine's Day-related) finds Pooh and friends receiving anonymous valentines: Pooh, a "hunny" card; Tigger, a bouncing heart; Rabbit, a heart-shaped gardening trowel; and Eeyore…nothing. Feeling sorry for Eeyore (who, of course, already feels plenty sorry for himself), Piglet and the rest put their noggins together and come up with various gift ideas--a box of chocolate-covered thistles, a rose-decorated hammock, etc.--that invariably misfire. Still, it's the thought that counts, and that's the message that younger viewers will take away from this heartwarming, winsomely animated tale. The other episodes on the tape are: "Mr. Narrator," "Don Pooh-xote" (featuring Piglet in the Sancho role) and "Beastly Burden." Recommended. Aud: K, E, P. (R. Pitman)
