Although Apple wizard Steve Jobs took a drubbing in the microcomputer world (see the review of Ambrose Video's Triumph of the Nerds in this issue), he hit pay dirt with a little company called Pixar. After turning out some excellent computer animated short subjects, Pixar made a notable Hollywood hit called Toy Story, propelling Jobs into the billionaire's club. While the five films contained in this compilation were all available previously, they ran about $60 each on video. At ten bucks for the lot, this is a major bargain. Titles include: The Adventures of André & Wally B, the wonderful Oscar-nominated Luxo, Jr. (about a lamp and his smaller lamp offspring), Red's Dream, Knicknack, and the Oscar-winning Tin Toy (which partially inspired Toy Story). For the record, the genius behind all of this is named John Lasseter, and we have him to thank for this excellent collection. Highly recommended. Editor's Choice. Aud: P. (R. Pitman)
