Travel with Kids: Florida

In the latest edition of the Travel with Kids series, the Roberts family heads to Florida for three half-hour segments covering Orlando and the “Space Coast,” Miami and the Everglades, and the Florida Keys. Highlights in Orlando include a rocket launch at the Kennedy Space Center and rollercoaster rides at various theme parks. Miami offers plenty of beach fun and a visit to an aquarium before the crew heads inland to the Everglades (an experience that includes some close encounters with alligators). A drive along the famous U.S. Highway 1—the just-above-the-ocean road that links the mainland and the Keys—leads to Key West, where a trolley ride, a snorkeling expedition, shipwreck museums, and street buskers keep everyone entertained. In addition, a tour of “Papa's” house, where Ernest Hemingway lived during one of his most prolific periods, features the added attraction of a multitude of six-toed cats who love attention from visitors. DVD extras include a trip planner (with information and segments on transportation and family-friendly accommodations), travel tips and resources, and a “Florida at Home” section featuring crafts and recipes.
