The latest entry in the Travel with Kids series follows the Roberts family (husband-and-wife filmmakers Jeremy and Carrie Simmons, with their two young sons) to kid-friendly San Diego, where they visit the city's museums, engage in water sports, take a trip to Legoland, and—of course—stop at the San Diego Zoo (one of the few places in the U.S. to see live pandas and rare rhinos). In addition, viewers learn that George Lucas filmed some of his Star Wars epic series in the sprawling sand dunes just outside of town, and drop into the historic (and possibly ghost-haunted) Hotel del Coronado. Divided into two roughly half-hour portions (“Beaches & Ocean” and “Coronado & North Country”), DVD extras include a bloopers reel, along with many supplemental text-only features with information on family-friendly transportation and places to stay, recipes and crafts ideas, travel tips and resources, and interesting trivia tidbits.
