A sequel to The Star of Christmas [VL Online-12/02], this London-based, Dickens-inspired entry in the popular Christian computer-animated children's series features Cavis and Millward (VeggieTales stars Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber) as factory workers for the Scrooge-ish Ebenezer Nezzer, a pickle fiercely devoted to keeping the spirit of his dearly departed grandmother alive by selling beaucoup plastic Easter eggs and candy for the business she originally started. Although Cavis, Millward, and the nearby reverend (and son Junior Asparagus as Tiny Ti--uh, Edmund) try to make Nezzer see the spiritual value of Easter, Nezzer decides it would be better--in order to sell the maximum product--to simply replace the church with a year-round Easterland theme park. Until, that is, he's visited over the course of one evening by a couple of ethereal guests: his late grandma (who feels he's missed her point), and an angelic caller named Hope (voiced by Grammy-winning Australian artist Rebecca St. James), who walks him through past, present, and future effects brought on by the church's destruction, while also telling the true story of Easter through rousing song. Once again living up to the promise of providing Sunday morning values with Saturday morning fun, this holiday VeggieTale is recommended. Aud: K, E, P. (J. Williams)
