This addition to the Christian-themed children's series following the escapades of corny talking vegetables is framed as an answer to an e-mail asking for advice about how to handle unwanted teasing for being different. Larry the Cucumber stars as MacLarry, son of Chog Norrius, a Scottish ruler mired in a prank war with a Roman leader (the adjacent realms are separated by a gorge). Chog wishes his offspring would put aside his preferred hobby of working on inventions and instead pass the initiation rites in order to be considered a true Barberbarian. But when MacLarry is abducted by the opposition—led by decorative gourd Pompous Maximus—his knowledge of contraptions comes in handy as the titular pungent weapon comes into play. Citing Romans 12:4-6, the program serves up the perennially apt lesson that everyone has something to offer. Recommended. Aud: P. (J. Williams-Wood)
