Where do planes sleep? In trees? In big beds? In a sleeping bag? You'll have to watch to find out! Viewers will also discover how jets fly, planes "get a bath," and pilots "talk" to the ground crew. The zany host Mike, who manically swoops around in his flight suit, aviator helmet and goggles, while making a variety of plane noises, takes us on a journey through a municipal airport, a military flight academy, and an aircraft carrier to find the answer to the title question. Lots of plane footage, interviews with various flight workers and pilots, and "behind the scenes" sequences give a good look at the world of airplanes. Unfortunately, shots are occasionally a bit fuzzy, and it's hard to hear the host and interviewees at times, especially in all the exterior shots, where wind can be a problem. The accompanying notes claim repeatedly that this video will "settle children calmly down for slumber again & again;" however, with the constant wacky antics of the host and the energetic editing of jet sequences, this seems rather questionable. Geared to younger children, some of the more technical parts may lose them. An optional purchase. Aud: K, E, P. (E. Gieschen)
