Based on Ann Beattie's novel, this warm and funny love story follows the obsessions of a young executive (John Heard) who falls for a troubled woman (Mary Beth Hurt) who is having doubts about her marriage. When she returns to her husband, Heard broods about how to get her back (He even builds a dollhouse replica of her house with figures representing her and her husband!). This is an offbeat, wonderful film that never got much of a chance on its initial release. Directed by Joan Micklin Silver, who also directed the hilarious American Short Story adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's Bernice Bobs Her Hair (currently available from Monterrey Home Video, for $39.95.) Highly recommended.
