You remember Regan? Not the President, but the little girl who could turn her head 360 degrees, and spew green puke like she was a can of split pea soup come to life? Linda Blair reprises her role (only she's now called Nancy, for copyright reasons, one supposes) in this attempt at parody. Nancy, who survived one terrible childhood bout with possession by the devil is "repossessed," and Father Mayi (Leslie Nielsen) is called out of retirement to preside over the exorcism. When a Jim and Tammy Bakker-like set of TV evangelicals, named Ernest and Fanny, get into the act, the "exorcism" moves to prime time television. Nielsen, who was such an asset to Airplane! and The Naked Gun, proves here that style doesn't go very far without a decent script to support it. Everybody leers at the camera and desperately tries to engage our interest, but it's all for naught. Writer/director Bob Logan is reminiscent of writer/director Bob Clark (Porky's), and he's a perfect example of the Catholic boy who's never grown up. Logan's idea of comedy is an endless series of Catholic jokes and breast jokes. Boys in junior high school might find this entertaining, but the rest of us are going to want to toss our cookies right back at Linda B. and company. Not recommended. (R. Pitman)
