Stars: Paul LeMat (American Graffiti, Melvin and Howard), Geoffrey Lewis (Every Which Way But Loose, Tango and Cash), Quin Kessler (Modern Girls). Apparently spurred by the upcoming release of Aladdin, Monarch Home Video has scraped the bottom of the genie bottle to come up with this lame tale of an itinerant Beverly Hills garbage picker (Paul Le Mat) who stumbles upon a homeless genie (Geoffrey Lewis). Searching for the genie's lost bottle, Basie (LeMat) also tries to free a love interest (Quin Kessler) who has been held on a beautiful estate and purposely kept stupid so that her evil guardian could reap financial rewards (this either isn't really explained or I was asleep). Even by Beverly Hills standards, the folks in Wishman are pretty dumb, and 15 minutes in you find yourself beginning to fervently wish that the movie was over. Audience: Zippola; wait for Aladdin.

As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
