Wholesome family entertainment is the operative phrase as widower Frank Beardsley (Henry Fonda) and widow Helen North (Lucille Ball), each with 8 and 10 children respectively, are brought together by what can only be the sadistic bent of their matchmaking mutual friend, played with signature third-wheel zeal by Van Johnson. For inexplicable reasons the two decide to wed, with the expected bedroom-bursting consequences. Some funny physical shtick by Ball, and the eminently watchable Fonda, make this "so clean it squeaks" 1968 effort good Sunday afternoon hunkered down with the kids family fare, though it's a pity MGM served it up in such a poor pan & scan mastering.
