A Moment in Time—Conversations with Legendary Women is a four-part series with Gloria Steinem (primarily) and others interviewing leaders and cultural icons from the 1980s and early 1990s. Legends & Leaders features Indira Ghandi, Princess Grace (in her “last interview”), and Coretta Scott King; First Ladies/First Victories includes interviews with Betty Ford, Lady Bird Johnson, and Sally Ride; African American Women of Achievement spotlights Alice Walker and Toni Morrison; and Media and Politics showcases discussions with Walter Cronkite and Hugh Hefner (despite the series title, most of this volume's interviews are with men, the sole exception being Helen Gurley Brown). The visual quality on the DVDs, which present the original interviews with slight editing, is disappointing; however, the interviews themselves offer an interesting glimpse into the social and cultural framework of the period as well as an “up close and personal” look at some of the shakers and movers of the era. A strong optional purchase. Aud: C, P. (L. Stevens)
