Uniting the spiritual with the psychological, Helen M. Luke made it her life's work to explore one's inner life, but always with an eye on applications to real-world living. Born in England in 1904, she came to America in 1950 to begin a Jungian psychoanalytical practice, and, over the years, found herself immersed in spirituality and literature, as well. She thereafter founded Apple Farm in Michigan, where dozens of people dedicated themselves to finding the deeper meaning of their lives. Introduced by Thomas Moore of Care of the Soul fame, and including a lengthy tribute by Peter Brook, the tape concentrates heavily on interviews with Luke herself, filmed several years before she died at the age of 90 in 1995. An impressive melding of the personal, philosophical, and professional aspects of Luke's life, this program will appeal strongly to the Jungian community and to Luke's audience in the spiritual and literary worlds.
