Producer/photographer Al Stenson is the narrator for this filmed record of a trek in Nepal which he took along with a few other Americans. The story begins in Kathmandu, where Stenson and company go shopping for their two-week trek. Rather than starting from the traditional embarking point of Kathmandu, the party takes an airplane to the other end: Lukla, which features a truly short runway that resembles "a postage stamp on a mountain." Leaving from Lukla, the trekkers stop and visit with the Sherpa people along the way, do some more shopping in Namche Bazaar, and gaze upon Everest. Nice photography and beautiful Nepalese soundtrack music are accompanied by interesting narration. A good personal overview of trekking in Nepal. (See MOSCOW: TREASURES AND TRADITIONS for availability.)
