Produced by the YouTube Red streaming service, director Scott Winn's buoyant documentary focuses on YouTube sensation Lilly Singh's 2015 world tour variety show that combines music, dancing, and comedy skits. A Trip to Unicorn Island chronicles the upbringing and rise to fame of Canadian personality Singh—who goes by IISuperwomanII on her 10-million strong YouTube channel—with home videos and interviews with her family and friends, including tour buddy Humble the Poet and fellow web-celeb Grace Helbig. Singh's goal to “make people feel 10 times happier than when they came in the building” is relayed through her energetic preparation for the show, which kicks off in Mumbai and finds fans grinning ear-to-ear, inspired by their idol. Although Singh is obviously a hard worker, jet lag and illness don't even seem to phase the woman as she engages in obsessive uploading and onscreen mugging. An upbeat look at a young person achieving her goals and trying to send a positive message, this is recommended. Aud: P. (J. Williams-Wood)
