Built by the Harmonists, an early 19th-century Christian Utopian society, the village of Old Economy in western Pennsylvania, is now a six-acre historical site featuring some 17 restored buildings open to the public. This video tour offers a brief commentary on the history of the Harmonists and then visits the village museum, the feast hall, the mechanics building, the post office, representative homes, and the lovely garden designed in the shape of a cross. The most successful of American Christian communal groups, the Harmonists persisted until 1905 before officially disbanding. An interesting slice of Americana, A Video Tour of Old Economy Village is recommended, though interest in the title may be more regional than national. (Available from: VideoTone Productions, P.O.
