Mention modes of transportation in Africa and chances are rail travel will not be the first choice that comes to mind. This two-tape set introduces viewers to two luxurious African trains that make the vaunted Orient Express look like the Chattanooga Choo-Choo compared to these cruise ships on rails. Operated by the South African company Rovos Rail, the two lines cover the route between Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and Capetown, South Africa. The first video details the trip between Capetown and Pretoria on board the "Blue Train," while the second takes viewers on the even more exclusive "Pride of Africa" which runs from Pretoria to Victoria Falls. How exclusive are these trains you might ask? Well, if you can afford to board the "Pride of Africa," you'll find yourself pampered in fully-equipped turn-of-the-century rail cars, where a highly trained staff responds to your every wish, skilled chefs whip up three gourmet meals a day, and you whiz through parts of Africa not accessible by automobile. Not many viewers will be able to afford these train trips, but the filmmakers have come close to replicating what must be a remarkable and unforgettable experience. This inexpensive and entertaining armchair ride is recommended. Aud: P. (J. Carlson)
