Art of the Wild

For those who look to videotape for inspirational sojourns, this program will fulfill the quest for soothing imagery and uplifting ideas. Faculty writers of poetry and prose gathered at the "Art of the Wild" conference in Squaw Valley, California, to share their ideas on nature, wilderness, environment, beauty, culture, diversity, landscape, habitat, humanism, religion, ritual, and post-modernism. Their esoteric insights are illustrated with film clips of beautiful California wilderness accompanied by appropriate new-age music. This heady combination of intellectual ideas expressed in poetry and reminiscences layered over glistening, pristine images is intoxicating but ultimately a little exhausting.
