More of a novelty tape than a record of the 1992 season, this Mel Allen (the voice of baseball) narrated "chronicle" is divided into monthly segments. Each "month" has its great play, blooper, record broken, and rising young baseball star. Surprisingly, however, the end of the month team division standings are never shown or mentioned. Some of the bloopers are funny (the sprinkler system that suddenly turned on in the middle of a game is pretty cute), and the later attention to the playoffs and World Series battle between the Atlanta Braves and the Toronto Blue Jays at least offers a sensible conclusion to this meandering program. But, by and large, this is a thrown-together season souvenir with an unequal mix of the weighty and the trivial that is poorly arranged to boot. Not a necessary purchase.
