From Beatles chauffeur Alf Bicknell's diary for Halloween, 1965--the entire entry: "Stayed in bed! Well, nearly!" Heady stuff, that, and just the kind of in-depth insight which will keep Beatles fans pondering late into the night. Not a cheap attempt to cash in--to his credit, Alf is backed by Paul, George, and Ringo--this is still a low-budget trip down nostalgia lane, as Alf (whose storytelling skills are no match for his apparent virtuosity behind the wheel) regales viewers with occasionally amusing, often dull, tales of the Fab Four, circa 1964-1966. Needless to say, this doesn't hold a candle to The Beatles Anthology (VL-9/96). Not a necessary purchase. Aud: P. (R. Pitman)
