Four touring standup comedians take the stage at the Dodge Theater in Phoenix for this taped performance, which is interspersed with scenes from their life on the road in hotels, malls, etc. Cigarette and booze in hand, Ron White kicks off his sidesplitting act with riffs on televangelists, small planes, staying in L.A., and much more. Playing his redneck routine to the hilt, Larry the Cable Guy is a bit more low-brow--joking about incest, prostate exams, and frivolous lawsuits (e.g., suing Hustler magazine for giving him carpal tunnel syndrome). Bill Engvall takes on the “fun” of family life in some fine observational humor (“RV stands for ruined vacation”). Finally, headliner Jeff Foxworthy does his patented “you might be a redneck if...” routine; offers examples of redneck terminology, including words like “aorta” (e.g., “Aorta cut down that grass down by the ball field so them kids don't get hurt”); and jokes about hazardous toys, rental cars, spider veins, and a host of other everyday topics. Shot in high-definition video, the program looks very sharp but it's a little cropped in its full screen presentation. This quartet is pretty darn funny and, despite the regional orientation, this should appeal to far more than just the Joe Sixpack audience. Recommended. (T. Rich)
