A bible study series produced at London's All Souls Church and hosted by Pastor Richard Bewes with his colleague Paul Blackham, Book by Book examines each of the individual books of the Bible along with a guest interpreter. In Genesis, the 50 chapters are divided into 10 segments, each introduced by Bewes, who reads a few verses from the chapter in question, followed by a discussion focusing on the guest's--in this case Anne Graham Lotz, daughter of evangelist Billy Graham--particular point of view. Lotz is a charismatic, powerful speaker, who skillfully and convincingly covers the material, extracting an encouraging message of redemption from the verses, and inspiring viewers to read the good news. Many of the lessons derived from this study are universal; however, more spiritually liberal viewers are likely to be put off by Lotz's unflaggingly literal interpretations regarding homosexuality, evolution, and creationism ("seven days"; no more, no less). Still, given the ambitious nature of the project and the wide range of guests in successive volumes, this is a strong optional purchase. Other titles in the series include: Exodus, Galatians, I Peter, and Selected Psalms. Aud: P. (J. Reed)
